December - January Wrap Up 2012 I trust you all had an enjoyable Christmas and a safe and relaxing new year.December and January have been both busy and relaxing all rolled into one. Our first Cosmos movie night at The State Cinema on 7 December, was heralded a huge success. We showed a film produced by Michael Noonan called Unlikely Travellers as well as some of our own short films. Tickets all but sold out and a great night was had by all. We look forward to an even bigger evening this year. December saw the muchly anticipated arrival of our new wheelchair hoist equipped Commuter van. December also saw the first edition of “Cosmos Calling” a newsletter for friends and families of Cosmos. Please click here for further reading. Most staff took the opportunity over the Christmas break to unwind and recharge the batteries ready for a new and exciting upcoming year. In earlier news I have mentioned our tree sculpture which was funded by Arts Tasmania. The sculpture will soon be completed and will be installed at our Mornington venue; this will be launched in February at a cocktail evening along with the new furniture that has been purchased with the funding we received from the Tasmanian Community Fund. I hope that you all have an enjoyable start to your new year and may 2012 be filled with many rewarding experiences. |
At Cosmos we stretch ourselves to try new things in new ways.

On Monday November 21st, at a lunch at Wrest Point Casino hosted by David O’Byrne MP Minister for Economic Development, Cosmos was nominated to the Honour Roll of the Employer of Choice Awards. The awards are run by the Tasmanian Government to recognise outstanding employers in the public, private and non profit sectors. It’s a feather in our cap to have been recongised in this way so early in our journey to being a fantastic employer. The award is recognition that we are committed to being a great place to work and that we are taking the steps to be that.
